Rusty "Benton" Meyer

May 23, 1946 - May 20, 2016

Rusty "Benton" Meyer of Frankfort peacefully passed away on May 20 at his home. He is preceded by his parents Charles Meyer and Dorothy (nee Priekschat) Meyer, life long residents of Tinley Park.;he is survived by his beloved wife, Mary (nee Sobieralski); loving children Jennifer (Brad) Quincer of Sandwich; Erik of Salt Lake City, UT ; Faith Kancauski of Tinley Park, Robert (Sandy) Kancauski of Plainfield. Late son Michael Kancauski in 2013. Devoted brother Charles ("Buzz")(Marylou) Meyer of Texas and devoted sister Patricia (late Ron) Koehler of Oak Forest; adoring seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rusty was employed over 40 years at Panduit as a tool and die maker.and was a volunteer fireman in Tinley Park for 12 years He graduated 8th grade from St. George School and was a 1965 graduate of Marian Catholic High School. He served in the US Army as a Medical Corp Operating Room Specialist. He enjoyed his memberships in the Ridgewood Cycle Assoc. of Frankfort and the NOMAD Ski Club for 20 years. Rusty was also a member of the New Lenox American Legion the Gateway Veterans. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 25 2P-8P at Heartland Memorial Center, 7151 183rd St., Tinley Park; Funeral Mass Thursday 10A at St. George Church, 6707 W. 175th St, Tinley Park followed by military honors at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Manteno Veterans Home, Lung Cancer Research and Family Services Hospice.
