Lois Jean Marthaler

December 20, 1928 - August 16, 2015

Lois Jean Marthaler (nee Olson), 86, a Miller Woods resident of 59 years, passed away Aug. 16, 2015 in Chicago Heights under the care of Vitas Hospice at St. James Hospital. It was there that she was born on December 20, 1928. She was a resident at the Brookdale Plaza in Olympia Fields for the last year of her life. Devoted wife to the late Raymond Cull Marthaler (late 2007), Loving mother to Kay (Tom) Ashby of Chicago Heights, David (Maureen) Marthaler of Crete, Ann (Jim Deloria) Marthaler of Homer Glen, and Paul Marthaler of Steger. She was adored by her grandchildren: Dale (Samantha Bonessa and her son Aiden) Ashby, Rae Ashby, Max and Grace Bialka, Luke and Jake Marthaler. Dear sister of the late Lorraine (late Ray) Nelson and late Arthur (Mary Rose) Olson. Dear sister-in-law to Carol (late Gary) Klos, late Father Berard “Lawrence” OFM. and Edward Marthaler. Daughter of the late Manfred and Bertha Olson. Lois was a friend to many and they were always on her mind and in her heart. She was a 1946 graduate of Bloom Township High School, later worked at the First National Bank of Chicago Heights and was a Lunchroom Lady at Eastview School in Steger. A former member of St. Ann's Parish in Chicago Heights, member of St. Agnes Church, Linnea Club, Lois Club, and the TBCs Bridge Club. Visitation will be held on Wed., Aug. 19th form 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Heartland Memorial Center, 1340 Otto Blvd. Chicago Heights, IL 60411. Prayers Thursday at the Funeral Home at 9:45 a.m. to St. Agnes Church in Chicago Heights for a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass. Interment following at Assumption Cemetery.
